HID problems...what do I need?

I bought a set of Bi-Xenon HID's from vvme.com. (pretty cheap product, but expensive shipping)

Installed the kit, one of the plugs for the original headlights plugs into the kit.

Turned the newly installed kit on and they worked, but the indicator light on the inside said my brights were on. when I actually pressed the lever forward the bright indicator light got brighter. but no change in actual headlights.

This is the kit I bought

The lights worked for a couple days with the bright indicator on the whole time, then one night I turned the fog lights on and the lights still worked. the next morning...nothing no lights at all. later that day I reassembled my original halogens and have been driving with them ever since.

When I emailed the company they said I may need a canbus system converter. Before I go spending anymore money does anyone have any idea what's going on?
