Can anyone tell me how that I can remove a threaded round steel cover from the end of a longer threaded tube. (Thread protector) These parts will not take much heat because of the thickness and are installed with Locktite most likely, don't know for sure, but they're not rusted. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

Pb blaster it. If it doesn't work the first time keep doing it until it does. Let it soak in for a bit.

 

pb blaster wont do anything for loctite. you need an oxy acetalene torch to heat that up.

 

A handheld mapp gas or propane torch will put out enough heat. Especially if the parts are thin like the OP stated. The red loctite doesn't seem to need that much heat to soften it really.

Before you heat it up try to turn it the other way it my have left hand threads on it. I really dont know what your working on.

 

red loctite is supposed to be heated to about 1000 degrees to "fully" undo its holding properties. but a propane torch and enough patience will work too

 

Thanks everyone for the info. on the Locktite. This part was in a sensitive area and close to plastic. I used the pin-point heat of a grill lighter for a couple minutes and broke it loose with a small Channel Lock pliers. It worked really well. Thanks again
