Cold start locks doors

This started happening last winter but has become more annoying this year.

When I start the truck in the morning I leave the driver's door open as I have my dog out on his leash at the same time. When the truck is attempting to start it locks the doors. Last winter I could just hit unlock and all was fine. This winter pressing unlock does nothing but when I press lock I hear it attempting to relock the doors. Last night I plugged the block heater in so it might start easier today. It started fine without locking the doors but when I went to open the door for my gf the unlock button wouldn't work until a few minutes later.

I'm thinking the battery is shot as it is the original. Any other ideas?

Battery on its way out... Exact same thing started happening to mine, except for the cold weather part. About 6 months later I was in town stopping at a light and it finally gave out....I thought all kinds of other crap was going out but once the battery died and the new one was put it everything works as good as new...

8 years for a battery is pretty damn good. You're on borrowed time with that one, get it replaced ASAP.
