Cold Weather Shut Down

Was out ice fishing a few days ago, truck ran fine all the way out. Went to leave, started it to let it warm up, and it shut off after running for 5 minutes. No sputter, it was like someone had turned the key. Wouldn't start again, but would turn over. Got it to fire with starting fluid in the air intake, but wouldn't run. Any thoughts? Oh by the way it was -19 F when this happened. Ended up having to leave my truck on the ice and tow it off the next day

Bad fuel pump maybe. When you turn the key do you hear the pump whine for a few secs?.. Any other info on your truck? Engine size, Year, Miles, Modifications

06 Ranger Sport, 4.0L 6cyl. I was thinking fuel pump, but thought the immediate shutdown while running somewhat strange

a long stretch but check the fuel shut off switch too .you never know

looks like you got water in with fuel
drawn up to the steel line ,, then froze ,, cutting off fuel supply

check the fuel pump plate mated to the gas tank

if there is a lot of rust ,, use spray grease to coat the rust

that will prevent the rust from absorbing any more moisture and contaminating your fuel

Try

Iso-heet

Get a fuel pressure tester and check it.
