coolant gage differences?

I just put a 99 tach cluster into my 95 XLT 4.0
Basically everything works fine except the temp gage which varies between 3/4 and 7/8 and occasionally triggers the CHECK GAGES light. I'm thinking it is much more responsive than the original gage, BUT at too high a point.Does anyone know if the sender on the engine changed between 95 and 99? Could I just get a sensor for a 99 4.0 and screw it into the engine and plug the connector back on and have a correct reading temp gage? I really don't want to pull the cluster back out. I don't mind the high reading, but if my wife ever borrows the truck, I'll get a phone call.

I'm looking at Alldata and temperature sender F1SZ-10884-A was recalled in a TSB for a crimp being messed up and causing erratic readings.

Check TSB 95-13-2
