coolant gauge issues
coolant gauge issues
Hello,
New here, have a quick question seems pretty straight forward. I have a coolant gauge issue. I have grounded the single wire at the sender and the gauge pings hot. That leads me to believe that the gauge and the wiring is correct. I have replaced the sender as it seemed to be the issue, after doing so the gauge still does not move. It will actually ping to the left all the way cold past the last mark and when I turn it off it will go towards the low temp line. I have not seen this before and am open to thoughts and suggestions
for reference it is a 91 2.3 dis 2wd N/A 5 speed
I did not fully refill or burp the coolant as i thought I could at least get some temp increase and verify that it was working before completely refilling just to make sure that I would not have to drain it again before verifying the repair.
back story I actually got the truck for free a good friend in the desert was not able to get it running and/or keep it running for a while so he said if i could get it running i could have it, found out it skipped timing so a new belt and a retiming and bam its back to running, practically a brand new top end all new valves cam and springs. i had to rebuild brakes and the rabs was cooked so i replaces with a prop valve to at least get everything operating again and get the parking brakes to work again so i could ditch the wheel chocks, a few odds and ends and it close to road worthy.
only thing that i really want to do before driving it more often is get a functional temp gauge to monitor it a little more closely and finish bleeding and changing the rest of the fluids, brake fluid is already changed
thank you all for the help
