couple ?'s about the 12v power outlet:

OK I have a couple questions here:

I use the outlet for my phone charger. Its always hot though even with the power off. Will leaving the charger connected run down the battery?

and...
What color is the 12v power wire to the outlet? Im gonna use it to tap my explorer map light power since its always hot. (for some reason i cant get my map lights to work with the console... they only work when the dome light is on. It gets power to opperate normally, just no map lights! (FYI. I tapped the proper wire on the radio harness for map light power, doesnt work)

I have a 2008 xlt if that matters.

Thanks

pull the bezel and tap it there... It's the one that's not black lol..

I usually leave my phone on this outlet while I go work on things or something and it's usually with my house charger too... I don't have a car charger so it just gets plugged into a small inverter... I usually do the same with my iPod cept I leave that plugged in over night... I've never had a dead battery from that... You'll be fine man

If you can't tell the color... it's the wire with the lead going to the middle of the plug... the wire that goes to the outside of the plug is the ground...
