Is this a crash sensor?

I have a 4-4 air bag light on in my 95 ranger and I was looking around today for the crash sensor on the passenger side. I was just wondering if this picture is of the sensor? Looked through my manual and it shows me no info on the crash sensor itself.

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

haha I live in New Brunswick Canada, land of snow and road salt :D and thank you for the confirmation on the sensor, I guess I should be careful with it haha.

I am pretty sure that triggering just one sensor won't do anything. I believe there are two that have to go off simultaneously. I could be wrong though.

Gotcha, I was pretty careful with it just incase it was pretty sensitive. Another question though, how does it mount onto the metal? I'd like to get the light sorted out cause its driving me crazy flashing. I was hoping the manual I have would give me some info but I'm thinking I should try and find a proper ford dealer manual somehow.

Here are some crappy pictures of where it mounts.

It should have a bracket similar to this that bolts to the core support.

Here is where it is suppose to mount. The sensor on the passenger side is mounted in the same spot just on the other side of the radiator.

Sweet, thanks for the picture. I removed the passenger side one for now so my code has gone to a 4-1 code now I believe. The one on the drivers side seems to be put into the frame rail lol I'll have to take a good look at the core support and see if the brackets are broken off.

Thanks again,
Andrew

they must be mounted with the correct side up or you could hit a pothole or a large bump and the airt bag will deploy. only one sensor needs to be triggered in order for this to happen. inside the sensor, there is a ball sitting in a magnetic cone. when there is enough force for the ball to leave the cone, the airbag will deploy

thats scary lol the one I took off today was just hanging there by the wires. I will have to see if the other one is just placed inside the frame rail or if it is actually mounted in there
