Cruise control buttons suck?

Hey whats up fellas, First post here.

I've only had my 2000 ranger for a couple of months, so I don't know if the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel are suppose to be non-responsive, as in, no click or feel-able moment when pushed. My cruise control works fine, so the buttons are "functioning"

When I push them while driving, I have to look down to make sure I'm pushing the buttons and not a random spot on the steering wheel, It's just annoying..

Is this normal, or are they worn out?

Are there springs or something that I could replaced behind the buttons?

I think that's just how they are. My 99 was that way and our old 98 was the same way. Just something I got used to.

Ranger_Guy15, The buttons function fine, they are doing their job. Imagine pushing your finger on your dashboard, well.. that's what the buttons feel like when pressed.

99DangerRanger, Thanks for the info. I was hoping they were just worn out, but sounds like it's normal.

This weekend I'll take it apart and inspect them Although the airbag scares me..

you can get new pods if yours are illegible. at night on my old truck, the buttons didn't light up. Ford decided not to run the wiring completely so they lit up. I made a how-to on getting power for them to light up at night or if your truck is already wired, the bulbs could be burnt out.

The cruise light on the dash lights up, But the buttons don't, I check out your how-to. I suppose if they did light up, the crappy buttons would be less annoying.

Thanks for the help.

yeah the pods themselves should light up at night. its just 1 wire you gotta run so its really easy.
