bigger alternator???

ok, after hooking up my CB, 12V plug to the bed, off road lights, and an air compressor I know I will be needing a bigger alternator. Are there any special brands that are specific to the ranger that would be the best? Or can I go to just any auto pars store and order a larger capacity alternator? Thanks in advance

I don't know about specific brands but I have a high watt sound system and i just ordered the 200amp alternator off of this site they also have a 130amp that would be able to power all that stuff, http://www.mralternator.com/alternators/ford.html. The highest my local auto zone sells is a 110amp which would also be enough to run what you have

With the higher output alternator you will want to do the big 3 upgrade.

yeah the big 3 is the wiring upgrade. You can just get some bigger wire from a welding supply store.

The stock alternators are 130amp, atleast when I got my 00 Ranger it came with a 130amp alternator. If you haven't already purchased one, you can swap yours out with a ford econoline 350 or whatever which has the 200amp alternators. I know this can be done because my neighbor picked one up at the junk yard from a rolled econoline van and it fit like a charm and worked like a champ. Big 3 will help but not to much. Those alternators are only putting out so much.

actually the stock alternator is a 95 amp jobby......the 130 amp was an option........and the only other alternators that will fit on a Ranger is an Explorer's 130 amp stocker....you can swap in 1 of them if you have a 95 amp alternator.....

for what you have installed in your truck, your 95 amp alternator will be more than enough.....keep what you have until you add more to your electrical system.......

but if you insist on getting a larger alternator, www.jusnesmodifed.com sells larger alternators for Rangers, and they are A LOT cheaper than Mr. Alternator or any other place........and Jusnes Modifed are members here and Ranger enthusists.....

I email'd this to you last week, but i guess you don't believe me......there is WAY too much wrong tech in this thread...The BIG 3 is worth it......
