Annoyingly Squeaky Brakes!

I have a squeaky brake problem. The brakes have been squeaking since day 1. I have since put 3,600 miles on it. This is an 09, and has squeaked every day I have used the brakes. Any ideas on the cause?

Squeaky? or screeching/squeeling? Probly cheap *** parts. I could be wrong. My rear drums squeal, but it's because I got the cheapest kind at cost, and they're too damn tight and I'm too lazy to adjust.

Hard to tell, all I know is it is annoying as hell. Everytime I use the brakes, they squeel, or squeak abnoxiously. This vehicle was bought with 6 miles on it. If the parts are cheap, its the factory parts. I suppose I can use my warranty, and have them checked out....

Bad brake pads maybe? What brand are your pads? Also did you or somebody else install them? Also humid climates or places where salt is used a lot to clear ice off the roads maybe a problem too. Lastly I had a squeaky brakes a while back. I took the wheel of along with the caliper and cleaned off the pad with light sandpaper. I just barely grazed the surface. And now no problems or squeakyness if that's a word haha.

Semi metallic pads make noise. Not sure if thats your issue.

Take it in for service. If it comes back try a different pad.

I think I've always had better luck with ceramic pads. Less brake dust too IIRC.

I'd call around to a couple auto parts suppliers and have them look uo replacement pads for your truck. When they sya they have them etc. ask what type are they? (mettallic, non-metallic etc) then call a couple other places, and see if they all agree. Then call Ford dealer and say you need brakes for a truck you just bought used. Ask same questions and see if all answers are the same. Bottom line, is that the type of pad makes a difference and if the rotors are polished/glazed, that will make the problem worse. You could also shop on line and perhaps get the answers.

Could be that whoever put the pads on didn't apply grease to the caliper pins or put an elastomeric coating and the pad backing. I've never had a problem with brake noise no matter how cheap the pads.

The factory does not add grease on the back of the pads.

Elastomeric coating isn't grease.

Bleh, read the grease and back of the pads skipped everything else.

The factory does use anti-seize on the pins or at least they used too.

Most OEMs use this clear high-temp grease now. Not as good as copper or nickel based anti-seize as there is no plating effect. I use a nickel-type anti-seize generally and CRC's pad compound. Even with cheap Chinese rotors I've never had noisy brakes.
