Disable clutch safety switch?
2001 ranger edge 2wd 3.0 5 speed reg cab manual everything.
How do i disable the clutch safety switch or at least where is it located? My old manual vehicles without safety switches Ive been starting for years without pressing the clutch in. Ive gotten very used to starting them in the AM to warm up while i scrape the frost off the windows without having to get in the truck and press the clutch down.

That might be a problem in the 2001, actually the 1999 and up
Clutch switch is on the clutch pedals pushrod under the dash
It has a slide lock tab so it can be removed from the pushrod
The two wires that need to be connected are the white/pink stripe and the solid Pink
Ignition switch--------fuse #24----------(white/pink)----------clutch switch--------(pink)----------/-------(Tan/red stripe)---------Starter relay(in engine fuse box)
BUT...................I am not sure if this also 'tells" computer truck is in Neutral, when truck is in neutral the computer enables the REV Limiter, so it starts to cut fuel at 3,000rpms
It shouldn't do this, but just a heads up
Fuse #24 is in cab fuse box, 7.5amp, its just a pass thru fuse, no voltage unless key is in START position
The other wires on the clutch switch need to be hooked up and switch needs to go back into place
But you can splice the white/pink and pink wires together without cutting them and then put switch back into place, that way you could just cut the splice if there are unforeseen operational issues

Cruise does use Clutch switch but in a different way, its a Ground pass thru from brake pedal switch, brake switches usually have 2 switches inside now, one for the brake lights and the other for "detection", i.e. foot on the brake to shift out of Park, or into 4Low, and to disable cruise
Ground---------------Brake pedal switch(brakes off)--------------clutch pedal switch(pedal up)---------------cruise module
If brake pedal or clutch pedal is moved then Cruise Module is un-Gounded on that wire and turns off "set"
This is why switch needs to be hooked back up

Awesome thanks! I was able to remove the connector and jam a short U shaped piece of 16ga wire in the terminals and started it how i wanted. Found i can just jam the same loop in the backside of the connector to achieve the same result. Works great! Also removed and cleaned the intermittent parking brake on switch. Round little disc got oxidized. Small emory board and some dielectric grease later its great.
Thanks again guys!
