a/c problems.....

a/c problems.....

i have power at the compressor, but the compressor clutch isn't kicking in.......does that mean the whole unit is bad, or can i just replace the clutches?

Did you try jumping the pressure cycling switch (located on top of the accumulator)? If the compressor clutch engages when the switch is jumped, then I would suspect a low charge.

i would bet it needs to be charged

i jumped the safety switch.......i have 12v of power at the plug behind the a/c compressor pulley......

it worked fine before i started doing something to it........i just had it charged last week.....along with all the seals replaced in it....

Could be the clutch gap is out of spec. Or maybe the clutch is indeed shot.

A/C clutches are replaceable, the question usually is, do you have to remove the compressor to do it. On my SHO, the answer is yes. On the Ranger, I'm not sure.

Why would it be so hard to remove the A/C compressor? It's just 4 13mm bolts and one serpentine belt.
