How to make LO Beams stay on with HI's?
ok so i recently put some 35watt ddm raptor 6000k hid's in my truck...i didnt get the hi/lo kit because people were saying it wasnt worth it....so i bought a set of 130w KC daylighters from a friend for $50 and wired them up to my high beams....so if i pull the lever towards me and hold it there the lows stay on and my KC's light up...but if i flip the lever away from me so it will stay there the lo beam hid's turn off and only the KC's are lit....so basically how do i make it do the same thing when i push it away as it does when i pull it toward me? thanks.

Its called relaying your headlights. Found this website in my VW days and using his method of wiring got some silvania silverstars to outshine some factory projector HID units. Pretty crazy how bright headlights get when you actually have 14.2 volts at them instead of 10.

mainly cause i wanted to have my high beam switch do something.....and i couldnt think of any where else to put a switch...i already have my upper lights on a switch and my aux reverse lights on a switch and a set of fogs on a switch....so i couldnt really think of another place that would look clean...lol

could i just plug a wire into the high beam spot on the little blue adapter they gave me and tap that into the power wire for the hid's?,.....that way it would have power weather it was in hi or lo mode....or would it be too much power when i pulled it towards me and both the hi and lo wires were hot?

You could do it a few ways, the best I can think of would be to leave your HID's hooked up to your dim headlight wire(s), use the bright headlight(s) wire as a trigger wire/input for a 30A relay. Wire both the KC's and HID's into the relay output, wiring the output for the HID's from the relay into the same connection as the dim wire on the Ballast harness. I wouldn't run the KC's off the bright wire, as I've seen and had higher draw lights melt the connectors on the signal light/bright harness (maybe due to previous owner's fuse replacement.

Just omit the two inner lights, or use those as your K/C lights. Notice how he is using TWO relays, one for high beam, one for low beam. The harness needs to be split. The power for the low beam relay will come from the headlight switch, while the power for the high beam relay will come from the selector in the steering column.

I did not read all of the posts but DON”T DO IT !
I am not saying it can’t be done just too much heat and the wiring is not large enough for it.
Each beam level has its own wire but before the Dimmer Sw all is one !
There is a good possibility that either the wiring will melt and cause a fire or the headlight housings/sockets will deform and maybe melt too or the Directional/Dimmer Sw that is only marginal to begin with will burn out.
Far better idea is to add extra lighting as I think was stated earlier, separate sw.relay and wiring.
Set up aux or fog lighting to come on with the high/low beams but only to be actuated by a separate relay and sw.
Ford’s OEM wiring is not made to handle that extra load, it would cost too much for them and they would need to go to the Govnm’t for more money.
I do not know for sure but I would also think the HL Sw would not be able to carry that amount of current for a long period of time before burning out.
I am not saying it can’t be done just too much heat and the wiring is not large enough for it.

Nope. It works fine. It has TWO different relays. When you turn your headlights on ONLY the lows come on, and when you flash it to high, the lows stay on, and the highs come on. Trust me. I've done it three times.

Which is why I posted that link saying you need to upgrade and COMPLETELY bypass the factory system. The only OEM wiring you will use is the signal wires for the relays. Everything else will be separate. When I did mine I ran all 12ga. wire so there was no possibility of fire. And I tested the heat on the headlight glass with a lazer temp gauge and it barely got about 100F with the car sitting still. You do bring up a good point, if your going to do it, do it right and make your own harness.

ok.....so i am using the stock hi beam wire as a signal wire for the relay for my KC'c.....and how come the wireing doesnt melt when i hold the lever back and hi's and lo's stay on....also since there is no high beam in he headlights, it is not powering more than just the lo hid. so if i were to "Y" the power connector on the ballast that plugs into the lo beam power wire....and make it so it "Y"'d and went to the hi beam power wire also than it would just be getting power if the lights were in hi or lo position....but it wouldnt change the light at all.....so i dont see how this would be drawing too much power....the only way i could see that is if i did this and when i pulled the lever towards me BOTH the hi and the lo power wire would be hot but that is just like upgrading the wire size to the ballasts....since its all a 12v system....so maybe there is somthing im not getting but i dont understand why this will over power the stock system or whatever?...

i was thinking and the only problem i see with doing that^^^...is if i had my signal wire for the kc's comming from the hi beam wire and i had the power wire for the heads split and it went into the hi's and lo's so they would have power when the switch was in either position is that when i have the switch in lo mode it might like pack feed power into the high beam wire and thus signal the kc's to turn on to...soooo....idk
