Dome light wont turn off.

My Ranger didn't have a dome light installed when I got it, so I picked one up at the parts yard. I installed it, connecting the green/orange wire to the non-grounded screw and it works, but it wont shut off.

I'll mention that the "door ajar" light is always on in my dash and the chime dings whenever the keys are in the ignition regardless of whether or not the doors are closed, so I figured that was the reason the domelight stays on. I disconnected the latch sensors inside the door and the "Door Ajar" light on the dash and the "key-in-ignition" chime went away, but the dome light remains on. I Already made sure that the dimmer switch is not all the way on.

there is another bare wire up behind the dome light base that is not connected to anything. It is black with a blue stripe. Anyone know what that is? The 3rd brake light works and the truck is not equipped with bed lights, so I can't figure out what that black/blue wire is for. If I connect it to the other prong ont domelight base, it immediately blows fuse #26(Battery Saver Relay, Electronic Shift Relay, Interior Lamp Relay, Power Window Relay, Electronic Shift Control Module, Dome/Map Lamp, GEM)

Here is a pic of the wires before I put the domelight base on.

solved.

I tried the soaking the door latches with WD-40 and slamming then doors repeatedly to no avail. So I took the door panel off, disconnected the sensor at the plug and removed the sensor from the latch, cleaned the whole sensor with solvent paying special attention to the small metal button until it moved freely, then greased it up with white grease. That took care of the door ajar light and dinging sound, but the dome light was still on.

After doing several hours of digging through threads, I found this one with a picture of my domelight setup and was able to discern that I had the constant power lead(green/orange) connected to the lamp, and not the correct black/blue one that is only powered when the door is open or the dimmer is all the way up. I also discovered from this thread that there is a better, 3-lamp domelight available for my year, and that I have the cheaper single-lamp square version. The green/orange wire would be used with the better version to power the side map lights, but is left unused on my version.
