Headlamp busted
Howdy,
So i got hit at a low velocity and it didn't seem like much damage. But I guess it broke the mounting for the front passenger turn signal and lamp. I figure the turn signal is probably laying somewhere off the 429A exit ramp of I-35. Anyway, I need to replace the entire assembly to pass inspection. I was hoping someone could point me to the right parts and a replacement procedure from reference material.
The inspector I spoke with last weekend said that because the lamp is not solidly fixed to the mounting that would fail the inspection too, so I figure the entire mounting, housing and the actual lamps probably need to be replaced. Not entirely sure what I'm talking about here, but seems logical.
I'm fairly technical, I work in information security. But I don't really know cars. I'm pretty certain I could do this myself, I just need the how-to. Much thanks in advance. Pictures and observations below.
This is an exterior view of the damage. The turn signal is missing and if you apply pressure to either side of the lamp, it rotates a few degrees on the vertical axis.
This is an interior view from above. The bottom of the picture is where the turn signal is supposed to be. The bracket at the top of the picture seems to mount the in-board side of the lamp to the housing group. As you apply pressure to the in-board side of the lamp, the bottom of that bracket shifts position. Not entirely certain, but seems like that's broken.
