volant cold air intake question

volant cold air intake question

been looking for the answer and cant seem to find it... i was just wondering if the filter is pre oiled or do i need to get some oil to it.. i know that k&n filters come with oil but not sure on the volant (no oil in the box).. any help would be great... thanks

yes, the filters are pre-oiled

you are going to need oil once you clean the filter so I would pick up some filter oil anyways.

Does the Volants have those neat boxes to surround the filter for colder air? Or are they open filter?

It's a closed box so it will be a little quieter than an open element system. You can see a pic here. Last one on the bottom:

the volant uses a closed box design that pulls cooler air from the stock location. It also helps to cut back on the noise of the intake and helps cure annoying harmonic noises that are common on aftermarket intakes.

some kits don't come with a box like the 2003 3.0.... I don't know if i should bye the Kand N or the volamt.
