my driver side door lock has quit working when i hit the lock or unlock button, also, im wondering if my truck should have keyless entry? I got a fob when i bought the truck but it doesnt work, i changed the battery in it and tried to program it but still nothing. any ideas on this? could the 2 problems be related?

 

I don't think they're related. I've had switches go bad on me before. The keyless entry worked fine

 

wouldnt the switch go bad for both doors then?

 

im thinking the actuator went bad in the drivers door...its a real easy fix

 

actuator seems right, it gradually quit working so seems logical. any ideas on keyless entry? i dont have a pats key, does my truck have pats?

 

98s didnt come with PATS...99 was the first year for PATS...then for some reason ford didnt put it on rangers in 04 and 05...no ideas with keyless though...maybe the control box went bad

 

when i do the on and off then 8 times my doors lock or unlock idr which so idk if that helps.

 

that just puts you into the programming mode for the keyless entry fobs...has nothing to do with PATS

 

i dont have pats though so i wasnt trying to get that, just trying to get keyless entry to work.

 

yea if you look in your owners manual it will tell you how to program the transmitters

 

I know how to do that. Tried that already and was unsuccessful that's y I'm wondering y it doesn't work.
