DPFE sensor....1994 3.0 ranger

I got a code on my 94 3.0 ranger for egr valve sensor. the DPFE sensor on the truck now is aluminum and has an oval plug and the wire harness connector to it is rectangular. The plastic ones on ebay for sale round at the end of the connector but not as oval as mine is.

these plastic ones wont work, correct? advance auto wanted $66 for the aluminum one.

i just went to www.napaonline.com and they sell 2 different metal ones, one with an oval connector and one with a D shape connector.....i need the D shape connector one, guess the plastic ones on ebay wont do me any good.

besides a CEL, how can this bad sensor effect my truck...it runs fine and everything, just an annoying CEL?
