E-Brake help. Please help me out. Need to get done asap.

My emergency brake cable snapped right by the pedal. I bought the new one and got it run. But I ran into a problem where the end of the cable connects to the pedal. I can see where the old cable end is but I cant get it out to put the new one in. There isnt enough room to get the old one out. Has anyoine chnaged theirs before? How do you get it out and put the new one in. I tried prying it open to make enough room but cant get it out. I am so pissed. It seems the pedal assembly is riveted together. I dont know whether I need to drill out the old one and replace it or not. Please help.

When I pulled one from the jy to do mine, the only way I could see how to do it would be to drill it out, then bolt back together. Turned out that I did not have to replace it, but in any case that's the conclusion that I came to.

That is my exact thought. What a pain. Why the hell would they make it like that? That is just poor design. I know fords are tough, but things dont last forever. It is an 04 with 60000 miles. I use the ebrake alot. Just rediculous. Thanks for your reply. I am thinking about grinding it with my dremel.
