E-Brake problem

I went 4 wheeling a few weeks ago and I developed a problem as a result of it. I was in 4low when the problem started. I was driving through a semi-deep puddle and gunned the truck to about 4k rpm for no more then a second or two. When I did this I noticed the e-brake light came on. I didnt think much of it unitl recently.

When I am in low gears (1,2,3) mostly 1 and 2 my ebrake light comes on. It can sometimes stay on for just a second or all the way up until I shift. When I shift the light goes off and its fine.

My question is, what could have caused this and how do I fix it?

Well the light coming on means two things. Brake is on and/or break fluid is low. Check your brake fluid.

I will check the fluid first thing in the morning.

The fluid was low. I filled it up to a little below max so I will see how that helps.

Problem solved.

What I dont get is how it got low?

As your brakes wear it will get low because it takes more fluid to fill the calipers. Maybe you were just low to begin with and it got lower.

How many miles do you have on your truck. It may be time to replace your brake pads/shoes and rotors/drums. Make sure there are no leaks in the system.
