Where did you ground your CB?
This has the making of being a stupid question but I'll ask anyways. When I wired my CB up, I ran the power to the 12v accessory since it was always hot. I ran the ground to the ground wire of the 12v accessory. I didn't figure this would work too well but decided to give it a shot. I was right, I get a lot of alternator whine and interference. The CB in my other truck is grounded to the body on the inside of the door next to the fuse box.
My question is, is there a spot behind the radio or somewhere under the dash that would provide a good ground? I was looking last night but it was getting dark and my shop light has been a victim of too many falls lol. Any ideas are appreciated.

There is a factory ground point directly below the center of the dash on the transmission tunnel. It is near the Restraints Control Module under a plastic cover. On most Rangers the cover is part of the floor cupholder consolette; on a few, it is a separate cover.
There are also factory ground points under the right and left kick panels.

Right now i have mine wired to a cig plug in......i still get out 10 miles....but having it there is kind of annoying.....i still have my amp wires ran under my seat, i just need to hook them up to it....
They said on the cb forums that you need to go strait to the battery to bypass the excess noises....
What did you end up going with, with the CB antenna

I ended up doing a bumper mounted 64" stainless whip. Thats what is on my other Ranger and its held up pretty well and gets out pretty decent. I know its not the greatest setup, I've read about why bumper mounts aren't the best or the worst, but its good for what I use it for. I'll snap some pictures when I get home. I meant to last night but ended up going to a high school football game. It made me feel old lol.
Overall, I'm happy with the CB itself. I have some other Cobra stuff thats been really durable so far.
Bob and Steve, thanks for the grounding info. I think I'm going to take a look for that ground near the Restraints Control Module under the cupholder when I get home. The CB in the other truck is grounded to the body and I don't get very much noise at all. So we'll see how that works out. Thanks for the info.
