Replaced Alternator - New Issues
Yesterday, battery light came on and my mechanic had to replace the alternator, and he got a good one brand new from Ford instead of reman... Anyway, when I turn the key to AC (accessory) and wait a bit, the check engine light flashes 7-8 times, what does this mean
Secondly, every once in awhile, while idling, the dome light will flicker, and the dash lights will flicker a little bit, any ideas?
Just put a new battery in last year

Okay update on the situation, might have a cause but am not sure.
Took the truck to O'reilly auto parts and had them do a full electrical system test (well sort of)
1. Tested Battery with engine off, received 12.08 volts of power - PASS
2. Tested starter - PASS
3. Tested alternator with engine running after cold-start phase ends - FAIL - Reason
FAIL = Voltage fluctuating between 14.10 volts and 12.98 volts, unregulated voltage, and 56 Amps current on a 130 amp alternator
Any ideas?
Also...I found a hole in my air intake hose that I have to replace the hose for, because air might be getting in the throttle body past the MAF sensor and causing misfire, but doubt it has anything to do with unregulated voltage on a BRAND NEW (not reman) alternator installed by my mechanic, pictures to come

Defective alternator or possibly bad connection on alternator.

Have your mechanic replace the alternator !
For the price you paid for a FORD Alternator you should be able to buy a higher output aftermarket unit.
Check the grounding !
IF you get another alternator, add new main power wires and ground wire for the alternator and the starter. May not hurt to add new ground wires all the way around, chassis, starter.
Minimum... new ground wire from the alternator housing and starter mounting bolt back to the negative battery terminal.

If you do want to add to your power/ground cables, I have a few lengths of 1/0 I could sell you pretty cheap. Heavy stuff. Although to be honest if you have everything stock, stock radio and and no extra electrical accessories and all that, I doubt you'll need it. Factory wiring should be more than sufficient, assuming it's all still there.
