Blotchy HID headlight output
Hey everyone,
I've had HID's for about 8 months. I've tried adjusting my headlights but just can't seem to perfect them. I'm real picky with how my lights look. I do have the black headlight casings which most people seem to have on here, and I do love them. Where I live I see a few trucks with 8k hids ( same as me ) and their light output just seems so perfect. Obviously projectors vs. Reflectors is a huge difference but I have yet to see some good projectors for our rangers.
Some side info: I have an '05 ranger edge. 8k hid. An also 8k fog
so I guess my question would be why is there " so called " bright spots. Is it because of the adjustmens or what? I've messed around with adjusting my lights for a couple days now I feel pretty comfortable adjustig them and what not. It also seems my right headlight goes up a tad bit further than my left. Is that normal?
Regards,
Andrew

Because HIDs are not designed to go into a reflector designed for halogens.
When I get on my other computer I'll look for a bookmark that describes why, but basically it is just going to suck no matter what.

Any links to projectors would be great

Yep Brian nailed it exactly. The Ranger headlights are designed for halogen lighting, not HIDs. Thats why you get the sort of scattered beam pattern.
Theres some projector headlights on ebay but its all going to be a cheap projector. A few people have swapped in projectors out of Infinitis with good results.

Yeah I remember someone on these forums bought projectors on eBay and they ended up being worse. Ithink he ended up having to modify the lights and trim down metal cut-off piece. I guess I'll hav to get over the blotchy output for now. Using an infiniti projector would be awesome but I find that to much work for me

I hear the Acura TL (I think) projectors are awesome.
In our Subaru Legacy the low beams are a Halogen projector and they have a nice cutoff and good output, but not as even as good projectors. I have seen HID retro-fits in them and they are okay, they still have a clean cutoff. But I saw one person who took the headlight apart and ran acura projectors and the light output and cutoff was REALLY good.
