get an Optima red or yellow top to replace your starting battery. That alone will be plenty to run your car and lights no problem. If your gonna get extra might as well get a good one. as far as hooking them up I'd wire them so that they are on a switch and the power and ground go to the same as the headlights power and ground that way they only come on when your head lights come on, but can be switched off also.

You can't ADD a battery, but you can run two batteries. The hitch is they have to be the same age, size, and type for it to work right.
You probably don't need one, though. Getting a light bar tells us nothing about how many or what wattage lights you'll be getting. 55 watt lamps draw under 5 amps, but use 5 as a guidline, and 100 watt lamps take 8 to 10 but use 10 as a guideline.
Figure out how many of what type you'll use and then you'll have some idea on the load on your electrical system.

1. How many lights are gonna be on the bar?
2. How many watts are you running on the lights?
3. How often are these lights gonna be on for?
*I would say no to getting another battery. If you want to upgrade just get a better alternator. Look at mralternator.com the got some hight output alternators for sale there.

I highly recommend a higher output alternator. I currently run 6 150W daylighters and all my running lights with steoro going I have a volt gauge in my truck the alt goes down too 12.5 volts when running which isnt the best being is sits normally at 14.5 volts a red top optimum battery and a over 110watt alt should be fine. my alt after 2 years is now basically shot o mean bad. I have to replave it soon...
