Electric steps

I have been offered a pair of camper steps. I have a service dog who can climb steps but I don't think she could figure out climbing in using step bars. I remember my grandfather had taken a camper step and wired it on his 72 F100 with a switch so my grandmother could ride in his truck. I have no idea on how to go about wiring something like that up. Ideally, they would open when the door opens only. Kits for converting manual RV steps to auto are several hundred dollars which I can't afford. But I know the motors are basically just power window motors. Anyone got advice/ideas?

If you are not mechanically and electrically inclined like your grandfather then you are probably biting off more than you can chew with this

Get the folding stairs/steps if they are free, why not
Mount them where they need to go, so you can fold them in and out manually this IS THE FIRST STEP, pun intended
Then you need to see how they work, where is the leverage point where you can attach an "actuator", it can be like a screw jack or hydraulic ram

Yes, 12v electric motor but you ALSO need stops, micro switches that cut power when steps are full up and fully down..............if you want automatic, like when the doors open or close
