Electrical issues

Hello all,
I have an electrical issue and wanted to see if any of you have had the same problem or knows what I can do to fix it.
I have a 1999 4x4 ext cab 4.o liter. The truck runs/drives fine but the door adjar light stays on, the dome light stays on for a while then shuts off and sometimes the thruck will start to rev really fast when in neutral. The stereo also sometimes switches to CD when there is no CD in.
I have replaced all the fuses, cleaned the battery posts, and have replaced all the O2 sensors, (via the check engine light).
Not really sure where to look....any ideas are appreciated.
Thanks, Jeff

For the door ajar light and the dome light you can spray WD40 in the latch on both doors open and close them a few times maybe spray more and that will fix the problem. I just done that to mine after working on trying to find the problem for over a year.. So simple of a fix....

When you douche out the latches, use a screwdriver shank to open/close the latch while you use the outside door handle. Much faster than slamming the door a bunch of times.

The idle racing could be the IAC. Try cleaning it. It's held on the throttle body with two 8mm bolts. Carb cleaner, SeaFoam, whatever you've got will clean it. Should be able to reuse its gasket.

The other possibility is vacuum leak. The 4.0 intakes gaskets are notorious for that. Eventually, that should set codes P0171, P0174. Should also inspect the PCV tubing and connections for cracks/rot. Can also spray carb cleaner at likely vacuum leak areas and see if the idle changes.

One of Ford’s better ideas to put the witches in the doors !

YES I've found the first answer to a problem that has driven me apesh@t for years. BTW if you drive it about 20 feet with door open it will turn off the dome light.

I WD40'd my
doors and it hasn't been ajar yet

I had the same problem last week, door ajar light on and that dinger was ring even with the door closed, sprayed White Lithium Grease in the lock (more than usual) worked the door a few times and the problem went away.
