Enabling high beams and low beams simultaneously?

I recently installed did a front end conversion from the 99 ranger front to the 03 ranger ones, and at the same time I installed some aftermarket headlight housings. However after wiring everything up I realized the high beam bulbs were designed to be on at the same time as the low beams as they lit up everything from midrange up but close to the front end isn't well lit. Is there anyway to change the lights so the high and low beams are on at the same time? Is there a relay in the junction box I need to install/remove or would I need to rewire everything to get it to work?

No, no relays for headlights in 1999

The low or high selection is done in the multi-function switch(turn signal stalk)
It's a one or the other switch, so either low beams get 12v or high beams get 12v but not both at the same time

The high beams have their own fuse, #33 in the cab fuse box, it gets 12v from the multi-function switch when High is selected or "flash to pass"
You could add a switch that sends 12v to fuse 33 which would active high beams while low beams stayed on
Thats probably the simplest way

2000 Ranger diagram here, 1999 is the same

The grey/orange stripe wire from multi-function switch to fuse 33 would be where to high-jack this circuit
I would use a 5 pole relay to do this with 87a hooked to multi-function switch and 30 as the out to fuse 33, then 12v source to 87
This would prevent back feeding 12v source to multi-function switch

Thanks for the reply, I was hoping it would be more simple than this but since the low beams are very good i'll leave it the way it is for now.

There are some legal issues as well
Also when both high and low beams are in the same lens there is a heat issue to consider if BOTH filaments or bulbs are in use at the same time

You might try adjusting the high beams down a bit, if lighting is too far away for practical use

The housings were designed for a 03 ranger so I assume they were designed to have both on at the same time, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

2003 is the same, low beams or high beams but not both at the same time

In either year you can pull back on the multi-function switch, flash to pass, and I think both low and high will be on at the same time, but never looked

Yes if you hold the flasher switch down they're both on at the same time. With them both on they light up everything which made me think this is how it was meant to work in the first place.

No, its just for temporary use, i.e. "flash to pass"
