New Mod: Remote Start/Keyless on Manual Transmission

Just purchased a kit on Ebay. I have had an Ebay keyless system for ever, and everything has worked perfectly. It's time to change things up a little bit. I just ordered the Remote Start/Keyless system for a manual transmission, it works a little funky, but you can read that on the Ebay auction site. I will be updating this thread as to how involved it is (since I ordered a T harness for the starter, it shouldn't be too bad), and some pictures as soon as I receive the kit. If you have a manual, and you want keyless, subscribe to this thread now! : )

Remote Kit:

T Harness for Starter:

Forgot to add, had to purchase this to bypass PATS:

The thing I like about this kit, is they actually ensure the vehicle is left in neutral, that's what I like about it! That way, all you "responsible" people can't say, "Those kits aren't safe, you could leave it in gear and seriously hurt someone or something!"

I love mine! one cold morning and you'll wonder how you made it without it,lol. The coolest part is watching peoples reactions when they realize no one is in it when it started. good luck and enjoy.

Ordering mine next week! We'll see how this install goes. I'll try to do a write-up on installing a remote starter on a 04+

So you push the remote, it starts, unlock your truck, jump in then throw in the key to the on position?? I don't know anyone with remote start, i'm curious. I'm jelous.

Since my truck is manual, the system is designed to work with that. Before you cut the truck off, you put it in neutral, press the emergency brake, then press the regular brake and let off, and then press the start button on the remote. The lights will flash showing that it is in reservation mode. You then turn the key to off (the truck automatically stays running) and then you get out and when you close the door the truck turns off. So it knows you were out of the vehicle, yet it was in neutral. Then you can remote start it anywhere.

WOW, that sounds like alot of work. Mine you dont have to do anything, the doors don't even have to be locked. Just press the lock and unlock buttons at the same time, parking lights blink then 3 second later trucks runnin.

That's probably because you have an automatic. This setup is supposed to safe gaurd against people leaving the vehicle in gear, or forgetting to set the emergency brake.

now, I gotta ask....can I just use a kit for an automatic, and also the clutch bypass? That sounds like work to me. I'm responsible enough to leave it in neutral....heck i already leave it in neutral when i park it.

No you won't need a PATS bypass but using the connector would make install easier.

take it from an installer. only buy a directed electronics product, viper, python, avital, hornet, clifford, valet, and they have more, they are the best in the remote starts.keyless, and alarms. compustar also makes a solid unit. have it professionally installed becasue you need to know what your doing as if you dont you can wreck your wiring, fry you computer. if anyone in the lansing michigan area wants one installed i do install them, alarms, and stereos also, just shoot me a pm. my remote start took me about 6 hours to do but i also hide all my wires so you cant see them, normally they take 2.5-4hours. my first took me 9 hours.

I did my keyless entry myself, actuators, module, wires, lights, everything! Best of all, I only paid 40 bucks for it. It has lasted 2 years, and would last plenty more, I just want a remote start. The kit just came in, and little did I know, I don't need the PATS bypass. Bob has just informed me, that Ford, discontinued the PATS system in 05 Rangers ONLY! HA! Just sucks that I paid 35 bucks for a module I don't need. Anyone looking for one? I will proceed with the install very soon. I don't have to cut any wires in the factory harness because of the T harness that was recommended with the kit! So go pay hundreds of dollars for someone to install you a Viper, I will save those hundreds, and do it myself, so that I know it works! Good luck to everyone! I will be updating soon!
