Canadian ranger HID's with DRL
I'm sure anyone here from Canada who has wanted DRl's in thee newer ford rangers has discovered the sad fact that we can no longer disable the DRL's just by pulling out the fuse, that's because there is no longer any fuse for them. So my question to the people for getting around this fact would be, when we install the relay kit for the HID ballasts, instead of running the positive to the battery. Can we hook the positive into our head light switch on the dashboard that way there will be no power to the ballasts or the lights period until we turn the headlights on. I am not to sure if it is the relay positive or the positive headlight wire we would have to run to this switch but either way this sounds like a solid idea, please give me your opinion on this.

no the truck will have Drl's I'm going to rerote the DRL's to some LED's I've got mounted between the grille. the problem I'm having is the DRL's put out around 6w. the HID's need 12 so i put a relay kit like everyone else does the problem with this was the 6w. was enough to trip the relay and sent some power to the HID's with this method i will eliminate the power to the ballasts until the headlight switched is turned on, now the question is if is end power to the light bulbs but not the ballasts will it hurt the lights or will they just stay off until the ballasts receive power.
