If I remember it is a button in the door jamb. I changed it on my old Ranger, but that was about 10 years ago. Take the door panel off. You will need a mirror or either enough room to be able to look in. I think it was a pain in the butt to get to.

The switch is part of the latch assembly. There is a connector on the latch if you look at it in the door. Just disconnect it or buy a new latch.

its one with the latch. if you pull it apart and clean it you should be good to go. what happens is the dirt and grease build up around the lil ball and spring (the switch) and cause it to stick.

shoot some wd-40 or lithium grease down into the latch and cycle the latch a few times. believe me it works. mine did that and i even changed the latch assembly only to have it come right back. wd- 40 did the trick and it hasnt done it sice.

Mine does this a few times a year. I just clean it and spray some wd-40 in there. It's been doing it since day 1.

ditto on the wd-40. My '99 Ranger had the same issue. Did the wd-40 thing over 2 years ago and no issues since.
