Freeze plug problem
Hello everybody! I may be acquiring a Ford Ranger soon, not sure on the year but I think it's a '93 or '94. It was my cousin's when he was younger and I'm in need of a second vehicle soon, just as an in town commuter to and from work. Anyways, it's got rusted freeze plugs, to the point of a heavy leak from one of them. Now, he's replaced two, I believe on the sides of the block but he said the leak is on the back, just above where the block and trans connect. My question is, could this be temporarily fixed with something like JB Weld or JB Stick to transport to my house and mechanic? Secondly, my cousin said the two he replaced were replaced with rubber plugs that bolted in, instead of the normal metal plugs, how difficult would it be to replace the ones on the back of the block with the rubber ones, would I need to pull the block or drop the trans? Any help you can provide is appreciated. Unfortunately I don't know what engine it is, if that is something that is definitely required for an answer I can find out. Thanks!
