Icon5 Check engine light??I need help!!

Hello,
new guy here.I have a 99 ranger 3.0 v6 with 83k miles.Today while going to work my engine light popped on for the first time ever.I went to kragen to buy a code reader and hooked it up to the ecm plug....nothing...no power at all to the reader.I know its not the reader because I tried it on another car.I looked at all my fuses...They are ok???Any ideas what is going on?Thanks for the help!!bm
ps...I think its called the ecm plug...its the code reader plug directly below the steering wheel.

Check fuse 17 in the dash panel. It is shared between the Data Link Connector and the cigarette lighter socket.

ditto what bob said. If the cigarette lighter has no power, the code reader won't either.
