Finish AC removal

Hello, I'm going to start working on my B2 again. Not much progress this winter. I did manage a score a complete dash harness. Ok back to the task at hand. I have removed most of the AC with the exception of the unit in the picture. Question is can I remove this cover and what's inside without any issues to the heater system?

Yes, but would be better to find a non-AC engine bay box to replace it, gives much more room in engine bay

You do need to remove bolts from inside the cab to get it off, so can be a pain

You will need to fill the holes where AC pipes came out if you reuse that box

That box has the blower/fan
It would blow air thru the Evaporator(AC) and then into the cab where Heater core is located
So removing the Evaporator won't change anything in how the heater works, but box does need to be sealed so all air from the blower still goes into the cab, also so you don't get any "smells" from the engine bay in the cab, lol
