Thanks, Chris Many thanks to R-F member Earl43P for snapping the photos of his truck. 1999~2000 Ranger foglamp mod: Open the distribution box http://home.comcast.net/~rwenzing/fogmod2000a.jpg Locate the foglamp relay at the rear corner of the box closest to the DS fender (#10 in the owners manual) http://home.comcast.net/~rwenzing/fogmod2000b.jpg Remove the relay and bend the correct pin as shown. Reinstall. http://home.comcast.net/~rwenzing/fogmod2000c.jpg Map of Distribution Box. The red arrow shows relay #10. http://home.comcast.net/~rwenzing/fogmod2000dbox.jpg This type of "bent pin" foglamp mod will not work on 2004~2007 or on 1998-back Rangers. A short word of warning: It possible that this mod is illegal in some states. Also, if you have headlights, a pair of aux lights and foglamps on at the same time, that adds up to 6 forward facing lights. Most states have laws limiting forward facing lights to a maximum of four. Although it is rare, people on forums have reported being ticketed for running six front lights. |
SWEET,
I may just have to do that one at lunch today! Thanks, Chris Once again, you are FULL OF IT... full of... Vast amounts of KNOWLEDGE that is.. |
well that took all of 3 minutes. i bent back the pin, made sure it worked, it did, so i just snapped the thing off. changing an air filter takes longer then that mod lol. thanks guys!

not to sound like an idiot, but why do the fog lights go off when you kick on the high beams anyways?
|
from what i understand, when the brights are on its throwing enough light out in front of you so you dont need your fog lamps. the only problem with me is that when the brights are on and the fogs are off theres not enough light right in front of me when im driving the back country roads home from work. btw i do have the fog lamp mod done, it makes a difference.

Besides that, most states limit the maximum legal number of forward-facing lights to four. If you have driving lights and foglamps in addition to your headlights all on at once, that would be six. So, the safest (and most logical) way for a manufacturer to wire it for four lamps maximum is to allow foglamps only with low beams, aux driving lamps only with high beams. |
yeah the fog light mod works great. thanks again guys. my friends think im some sort of a ranger jedi now lol
|
^ which truck did you do it on? the 01 or the 97?
|
the 01. the 97 doesnt have fog lights. i bent the contact back, made sure it worked, and then just snapped it off.

Do the mod, easy as pie, you'll love it. |
