Frame Crack/Hole

Check out this hole in the frame of my 95 Mazda B2300. It’s right behind the cab mount on the driver’s side. After I chipped all the rotten metal out that I could, it’s about 5 inches long. The weird thing is that the rest of the frame looks pretty solid to me, there is some scale in places but nothing terrible for a 95. The crossmembers were completely gone, so I was planning on replacing those with 1/8inch A36 steel angle.

What do you guys think of the hole? Does it need to be repaired right away? I talked with the folks who make the SafeTCap frame repair kits and they said this patch for a 98-03 Ranger would also work on my 95. I don’t quite see how it would fit: https://www.autorust.com/product/cen...n-art-128-1-l/

Note about the photos: the bed is off right now, all photos taken from the driver’s side looking in. The hole looks pretty much the same from the other side, but the fuel tank is kind of in the way. There's one photo from before I chipped the rust out.
