Lotta years since I was on this forum. Anyways I have an ’03 Ranger. Crawled under and got a hand on the front wheel brake cylinders, tried to shake em and found some play but not much. I estimate about a tenth (0.0010”) maybe (0.0020”) but not over that. Should there be any play at all?

 

front wheel cylinders? they havent been on vehicles in almost 50 years

 

Thanks for the comeback. 10-4 on ‘cylinders’ but I don’t know what else to call em. Whatever, they actuate the disk brakes. What are they called?

 

oh the calipers? yes some play is normal as they are on slide pins and they should have some east - west play but no north to south
