Fuel, spark, compression, no start.
Fuel, spark, compression, no start.
Hello, my brother just picked up a 93 Ranger splash. It cranks but does not start. Using a test light I have verified it has spark, there is fuel pressure at the rail and I can hear the pump. While cranking it sounds like it has good even compression. It does not fire off whatsoever, not even a sputter, have also tested with starter fluid. Last thing I can think of is timing. I replaced the crank position sensor to no effect I also have replaced the ignition coil and same thing. What could be the cause? Do you guys have any ideas?
Thanks,

Are you sure the injectors are pulsing? I chased a similar issue and it turned out to be 5 out of 6 injectors had seized/clogged after sitting and it started with no problems after replacing them. Pull a spark plug after cranking, it should smell like gas. If not, check the signal to injectors with a noid light. If they're getting signal, pull an injector and test them with 9v to the terminal pins, you should hear a click. Mine had no click, and that's how I knew they were bad.
If you got absolutely nothing with starter fluid it may not be this, but worth a shot. Good luck!
