Fuse not getting power! [pleas help asap]

2 Attachment(s)
So, my blinkers and my cruise control went out, and its hard to shift out of park, so I checked the fuse, looked good, but I replaced it anyway, thinking it would resolve the issue. Today, I got a test light, and the #10 fuse spot is not getting any power! What would cause this to happen? Please tell me what I can to do fix this issue asap!

Thanks very much. I also included screen shots from the owners manual.

Okay, so, mini update.

When I tried and tested the fuse with the Ranger in the on position, the test light light up like perfect, I just don't know what would cause these things to be out.

My first thought is that there is only power there when the key is on, that is why you didn’t have power and then you did; there is a lot of fused equip with that setup.

Reading your post the GEM module is in that circuit, those go bad, might be the GEM needs replacement.
I do not know how to test it but I am sure someone here can help you out at least you get a bump up.

You didn't give a year or model, so I guess I'll have to assume it's 2001~2003 from the picture.:sad:

The front turn signals, speed control and brake/shift interlock all share the same ground point, so that would be a good place to check next. The ground is bolted to the seat crossmember under the carpet below the front edge of the driver seat.

Oh awesome, good ideas!

&&sorry, it's an 2001!

**Bump on the GEM module?

The GEM has nothing to do with the speed control, shift interlock or turn signal circuits. It just uses the #10 fuse to tell it when the ignition is on.

Oh okay cool. So do I have to lift up the carpet to see the ground?

aaron_ariens Dec 5, 2009 01:03 PM

How would you go about checking it?

How would you remove the carpet? =/

V8 Level II Dec 5, 2009 02:33 PM

I can get to mine by unbolting the drivers bucket. If you have a bench seat, you might have to pull the whole thing. After removing the sill plate, the carpet can by lifted.

Before you go to that much trouble, you could check a couple of other things that use that same ground. If these work, then the ground is probably OK:

Dome light turns on when passenger side door is opened.
Center high mount stop light works when brakes are applied.

Yes and yes.

Maybe something inside the steering wheel?

OK, I rechecked the schematics for common elements between the three problem areas and found these:

Fuse 9 in the dash fuse panel;
Brake Pedal Position switch.

rwenzing knows his stuff.

Okay awesome, I'll check this in the AM.

thanks very much!

**I forgot to post this last night, because I was hella beat.

Last night on my way home, my cruise control started working randomly, I was just playing with the buttons and it worked. Weird. No now its just my bilkers.
