Ground wires

Welcome to the forum
What year Ranger and what engine size?
There should be a larger Ground cable from battery to the engine(same size as Positive battery cable), usually to motor mount bolt but can be to starter motor bolt(this is for starter motor and alternator Ground, the BIG AMP devices).
Smaller Ground wire would go to the Rad support(head lights) with a jumper to inner fender(relays)
Cab is grounded by a ground strap from the engine to the firewall, usually found on the back of drivers side head.
And there should also be a Frame ground, for tail lights, often a Ground strap on motor mount, engine bolt, to motor mount frame bolt.
One thing is for sure, you can not have "too many" Grounds, but can have "one too few" which causes issues.
So it you can't find one of the grounds mentioned above, ADD IT, won't hurt.
Remember, the frame and all body parts are painted BEFORE being assembled, and most parts have rubber mounts, so bolts holding them together are NOT Grounds, they sit on PAINT, not bare metal.
Engine and trans sit on rubber mounts as well, so there is no connection to body or frame except for the Ground Straps
