Headlamp Switch Bulb?? Part Where?
My headlamp switch bulb is out. Where can i find the replacement part for this? Do not see the part number anywhere?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-...item563be23432 Found it on ebay but theres gotta be somewhere cheaper, this dosen't even show the part number? help please. |
it shows a part number in the auction, not sure about a cheaper place, but i think bugman does modded ones

Taken from the auction: 3L5Z11654BA
EDIT: I was just a second too slow! |
The part number given in the auction in your link is for the complete headlight switch which currently lists for about $66.
I've seen a few forum sources that list F87Z13B765DA as the correct green bulb for 98+ Ranger/Explorer headlamp switch. I haven't ordered one myself though. Dealer list is around $15 !! If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can convert it to LED for a tiny fraction of that price and probably never have to mess with it again. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/296394...ar-cab/page-12 |

What size resistor?

It's in the How-to linked above.
If you need to double check the value needed for the current rating of your particular LED, there are instructions for doing the calculation in John's LED tutorial. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/296394...ar-cab/page-13 |
Duh, going to the next page helps. My bad :disappoin
|
Whats the "T1-3/4" actually stand for? I'm gonna run over to radio shack tomorrow and pick one up.

Would these work?

I do led conversions for the headlight/4x4/fog switches if you don't want to deal with it yourself.
Your choice of colors: Red, Blue, Green or White. Attachment 88474 Attachment 88475 Attachment 88476 They look MUCH better in person & at night. I also do a mean led mod to 3rd brake lights. PM me if you're interested. If you're going to do the mod yourself, you'll need to know the specs for the led's you're using, not all led's are the same. Sorry to jack your thread. |

Thanks For The Help Guys, Im Gonna DO The LED Mod, Looks simple, considering everything else on the truck is led. lol
|
Ya, it does look simple.
I got everything I needed today. Spend $3.19 and got two bulbs and like 4 resistors. |
So what gives the stock color? Does the thing in the dash have green already build into it or does that green filter over the bulb give it the color? If so, do I need to put the green part on the LED bulb?
|
Anyone?
|
I dunno but if you have the part off shine a flashlight up to it and see if it is green or white, this will tell you, i wanna know too but don't wanna take a part right now, TOO COLD OUTSIDE.
green means that the color is not determined by the bulb, white means the bulb determines the color. |
the indicators on the dash are opaque. the bulb gives the color.
|
There is a colored cover on the OEM bulb, either green or blue that determines the color unless you use colored led's.
BTW, the led's you find at Radio Shack are not nearly as bright as the high intensity led's I use. |
Ya, I haven't taken the dash out yet to shine the light through. To cold for me. So I would assume the green cover will fit over the led?
|
yeah and if your worried about brightness just put 2 leds in. LMAO
|
Mine are 7000 mcd. I would think that would be bright enough.

Got it done this evening. It was super easy. In the end, I spent $1.20 plus tax for what I have in my truck. The light output is nice and around the same output of everything else if not brighter. On with the pics.
