KC Daylighters

How much heat is normal for a pair of kc 150 Daylighters

they melt the plastic stone guards if kept on to long. stone should chime in here when he gets on.

I accidently left mine on while doing some work and melted my new black covers. :-( Guess ill have to put the ugly yellow ones back on.

Whoops! I know if you mount them behind your grill they can melt your grill also.

ALOT of heat. and yes they will melt the stone covers is that what you had? there is a warning on the page i made and also on KC's web site about that there seal beam bulbs they get HOT and fast i have accidently burned myself on them a few times...

also here is more info that it would be nice you might want to read my KC thread located HERE so you will understand why those are hot and why the others arnt...

Ok with daylighers design the reason its such a large housing is because of the 150W daylighter is made that large for cooling the Sealed beam bulb. Now that being sayed the 150w lights are sealed beam light bulb, think back in the day with you moms old 70's LTD, you had to replace the whole headlight bulb reflector and everything. Same principle. Ok the 100W and 130W are H3 bulbs and you can just replace the bulbs. Now the 100w and 130w lights don’t get as warm as the 150w. Thus why the ABS plastic stone guards and clear guard melt under the heat. These lights aren’t as "big" as you may thing they will fit on any standard brush guard. The mounting bolt is fairly far back

I know that they will melt the covers. I did not relize that the lights where on! LOL

how in gods creation do you not notice that 380,000 candle light off road lights are on?!?!?!

^^^^im with numb nuts ^^^^ umm the smoke and burning of plastic covers gives it away AND the fact u can see 30miles down the road AND theres prolly an LED light on the dash somehwere lol

UM ya DUR i always know when there on plus there is that stupid yellow LED on the switch that pisses me off...

i think he means will the wind against the lights and light covers while driving be enough to keep them cool as not to melt the covers. thats a no.

lmao right thats like saying wind n the engine will keep it cold and not burn your hand when u grab the manifold lol..them light get hot fast i bet you could cook an egg have decent on one!
