Help with 1997 to 1998 VSS Conversion On 3.0 Auto

Hey I Just recently put a newer automatic transmission in my 97, The transmission came out of a 98 and without realizing that the VSS setup was different untill I had everything bolted in ( I know dumb lol). I was wondering I put the rear end out of the 98 on too And it has the ABS/VSS on it so all I need to know is what i do with the wire harness thats supposed to go to the VSS on the transmission (on 97's) Or do I just hook my ABS back up to the new ABS/VSS and it will work? Maybe I need to wire the two together? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

In the years that use this system (98~00 and a few 2001 2.5's), the rear abs sensor puts out a low voltage signal that is corrected for tire diameter and output as a 12v square wave for the speedometer. The problem is that you need a module to do that conversion. By contrast, in the 95~97 system like yours was, the speedometer read the VSS directly from the signal generator on the transmission without a module.

I faced a similar problem when I did my V8 conversion and ended up adding a second GEM from a 2001 2.5L and using it just for the speedometer correction. For wiring, I ran 2 new wires from the ABS sensor to the GEM - these were in parallel to the original wires for the ABS. Then I ran a new output gray/black from the GEM to the existing speedometer circuit, a calibration wire from the Data Link Connector to the GEM plus power and ground for the GEM. Then the correction for the tire diameter had to be made in the GEM using a dealer tool.

There are aftermarket correction boxes avaialble and one of those would probably be cheaper and easier to deal with ASSUMING that the box has the capability to convert the rear ABS sensor signal to something the speedo can understand.
