I removed my rear drums yesterday to determine if they were any good and what parts i will need to replace when changing the brakes this weekend. I noticed a fair amount of play in the axle. I was hoping someone could tell me how much play (in and out) should there be on the rear axle shafts.

I found an old thread about this from 2009 but it did not give a specific amount.

 

There will always be some play in it... post up a vid of the movement if you're still concerned about it!

 

It moved about an 1/8 inch, so I do not think that it is that much of an issue. I don't think i have ever heard how much play is normal.
