Driver side window problems, please help

Hey everyone,

So on the way home from work last night I went to roll up my driver side window and it made a horrible thumping noise once the window reached the top. I have power windows, both sides work fine and roll up and down at the same speed, but unlike the passenger window that stops the motor from pushing when the window is fully rolled up, the driver side keeps pushing making that horrible sound. Is this a problem with the window motor? Do we have a regulator that stops the window from rolling when it senses resistance that could have failed?

I took it all apart this morning and everything mechanical looked to be working fine. Any input or help would be greatly appreciated...
