Do "New" instrument clusters exist?

"New" 1996 Ranger. Replaced instrument cluster twice from junkyard. Sick of it! Is there anywhere on the planet to buy a new one?

The fuel and temp gauges didn't work on the first one I got from a junkyard. Odometer didn't work on the second one.

Thanks for the link. I'll check it out.

I have read on this site that changing years end up with changing some of the wires.
Different gauges within the cluster don’t work on a different year range.
Before buying another unit, especially for $110 + shipping (good last resort) contact “rwenzing” he is an electrical guru, maybe he can help.

I am putting a ’95 Cluster w/o tach in my ’03 and there will be a wiring problem but not sure to what extent yet but hopefully just a gauge or two.
Also, do search on Dash Clusters and see where that gets you, there is info there but I don’t remember which thread.

luck

I would try making one good cluster out of two. The fuel and temp gauges form a module that can be carefully pried out as a unit from one cluster and transferred to the other.

The junkyards tell me that 95-97 clusters will work in my 96. Yes they fit, but I don't think that means they will work. I have a 3.0 V6. 5 speed. I call a junkyard 30 miles away and they say they have exactly what I need. Get there and we're pulling it out of a 97 explorer with an automatic transmission and who knows what engine it had. Tach was way off when I plugged it into 96. All else worked except fuel gauge. Maybe my fuel sending unit is bad, the gauge part anyway. Anyone know exactly where it's located and how much trouble to change it?

My real question, is it easier to drop the tank or remove the bed?

Thanks to ZACH! Redneckstone, for your odometer tutorial. I now have a fully functional instrument cluster. Great pics and instructions.

Would a 2002 cluster with tach work with no modifications into my 99 ranger w/o a tach?
