Hit a gas can on freeway doing 70mph
 

Last week on way to Portland, hit a plastic 10 gallon gas can on freeway while doing 70mph. Came around corner, and had no time to react to it, and ran over it and it got lodged under the truck, splitting apart and getting into the wheel well, and under the truck.

Had to pull over and jack up truck, take off front right tire, and work to pull the mangled, burnt plastic from under the truck. (I only think there was maybe 1 gallon of gas in it when I hit it, and looked like it burned off instantly).

Just got back and can deal with it now after flying out of town.

Engine now runs rough at idle, Engine quits randomly with Check engine light coming on, and Oil pressure guage spikes every couple of minutes.

Besides bending the Oil pan, what other damage do you think I did? Am taking it to shop tomorrow when I get home (saturday)

The oil pickup tube is probably bent upward inside the pan and not submersed far enough in the oil. It could also have been smashed or cut through by contact with the crankshaft or rods. With the OP gauge acting up, it is not a good idea to run the engine any more until diagnosed. Hopefully, no permanent damage has been done already but it doesn't sound good.

I would give it a good visual inspection on a lift to see if any wires were damaged and get the trouble codes pulled before the battery is disconnected.

i wouldnt be surprised if the pick up tube is bent. check everything really carefully

Everything checked out fine, and oil pressure has stayed where its supposed to since I got the Oil changed last week.

I did have them change the fuel filter, and it was severly damaged (it broke into 4 pieces when they removed it, so I presume thats what was causing truck not to start right away since I hit that gas can)
