Horn sounds different

So i have an 02 ranger, and i always thought the horn was kinda weak, and sounded a little weird, and then about a week ago, it started sounding different and louder too, and didn't mess with anything. Do these trucks have like a "dual" tone horn or something and maybe like, it randomly started working again or what? Am i right or no?

Car horns are just siimple electromagnets attached to a diaphram. Anything that changes how fast the electromagnet works (like low voltage) or how the diaphragm vibrates (like corrosion or debris on the diaphragm) will change the volume or tone. It could for example have had some debris in it causing the diaphragm to partially stick making it sound weak, when the debris dislodged it returned to normal. I find this most likely since things like voltage issues dont usually "fix themselves".

i never have but once a month i do a 1-2 sec honk way out in the middle of nowhere to make sure they work as they should. Kinda like the parkign brake - use it and it will work a very long time - dont use it and it will start to sieze up.

I found a few bugs and what looks like a little Mouse S--t in mine the other day. I am replacing them with Hella Units but with a Home Made mesh covering.
