Alarm Suggestions
So after the truck has been broken into twice I'm reluctantly looking at alarms. I went to the local big name shop and was really unhappy with the service... we talked about two Clifford alarms (Matrix 12 and Matrix 1PL I think?) but I'm interested in hearing your opinions.
Essentially they are busting the lock on the passenger side but not really taking anything of value (if anything at all) once they get inside. Anything that's gonna help prevent body damage takes priority since once the door is open they are finding there is nothing worth taking. I'd rather replace my sunglasses again then be without the truck for 3 days and have to go back to my insurance.
I'm not interested in shaving the locks... both because of the price tag and I don't really like the look of it. From the research I've done I'm looking for something with a shock sensor, I don't really care about 2-way paging unless the price is comparable, and I don't think proximity is a good idea. I'm looking for specific brands and models here please... unless you think you have an idea I haven't thought of... thanks!

I would suggest Viper, always had good luck with them. as far as models go, just check out their website and determine what features/price you want. I have had clifford and code alarm and others and had problems always went back to Viper. Right now I have one with the remote start, it was pricey, but
I love it.

If your looking for a budget system and willing to install yourself there are some base systems that will work for under $60.00. I personally use and have installed 12 of these systems without any issues 520-S Car Alarm w/Keyless Entry Alarms.com.
You could also simply remove all valuables from the truck and leave it unlocked
or
Sit inside with a 12g shot gun waiting for them to return. If you opt to sit inside make sure you have a video cam so you capture their facial expression when they open the door to find you laying down in the seat with the barrel pointed at them. Its priceless to say the least.

I bought a cheapie on Ebay and installed it myslef, took a few hours. Has life time warenty and works great, only problem is siren shorted out for some reason when i mounted it and it grounded in the base. I should send it in to get a replacement but park underground now where they have camera's.
it costed me like $40 from start to finish and worked great
