Hot wire in trailer hitch plugs?

Is it possible there's a hot 12v wire in my 96 Ranger trailer hitch plugs?

Dealer wired one for my Glasstite camper shell's dome light, but when I repaired it years later, I notice it seems to be strapped to the gas tank.

I think it has slipped down a 2" wide metal band. If it breaks down (likely after many years of hanging there), it could cause trouble.

Hot wire ideas for the shells dome light?

Also, I wanted to wire the break light through new gas lifts I put on the shell's door, but newer struts models don't pass power like the old ones did.

How do folks place wires to a door that opens, and slides up parallel to the top (nice design).

Thanks.

I've got a set up of brake light/directionals. It's riveted to the glass side of the hinge. For a hot wire, tap into the running light wire at the tail light. And then switch it on whenever the headlights are on. I added cargo lights into mine, but have a switch in the cab for them.

Trailer wiring is pretty standard
4 wire has left turn, right turn, tail light and ground

5 wire adds electric trailer brake wire

6 wire adds 12volt power, could be key on or key off power

7 wire adds reverse lights

My shell has brake light at the top of the rear window/door so wiring is on/in the shell and just moves when window is opened, doesn't move that much.

Shell light is also at that same location, but attached to shell, it has power key on or key off.

Wondering where your on or off power comes from for the shell light.

I think my Ford Trailer Hitch Package has a power, but it is for charging an attached camper unit battery... Not for running a 12v light or other 12v object.

I'm going back and running a new 12v line from the solenoid relay but contain it in a plastic tube designed for the purpose.

In this process, I've confirmed my electrical systems are working, ready for camping, and I'm less likely to blow up due to faulty wiring technique by the camper shell dealer.
